Laboratory equipment is very important in the lab, which mainly includes fume hood, workbench, drug cabinet, etc. In addition to choosing the correct lab furniture, the reasonable use and proper cleaning and maintenance is also the way to prolong the service life of laboratory furniture. In the following,we will simple talk about the common cleaning method of the fume hood and workbench.

I. Fume Hood:

1. In the process of the experiment, the experimental device that produces harmful substances should be placed at the operation port of the cabinet in the fume hood which diameter is larger than 150MM to prevent the overflow of harmful substances;

2. The experimental device of the fume hood shall not cover the exhaust slit;

3. After the test, the blower should not be closed immediately. Waiting for 3-5 minutes before closing.

4. Fume hood should not be used as storage cabinet;

5.The fume hood should always keep the inside surface clean and airtight, cleaning regularly, if there is damage, it need timely maintenance;

6. The ventilator, air duct and related accessories should be regularly maintained ;

7. Measure and adjust the fume hood regularly; Then enable the fume hood to operate under design conditions;

8. The temperature in the fume hood, such as the electric stove with large wattage, should be padded. To avoid affecting the use of the fume hood, it should not be stored and opened for a long time,.


II. Workbench. Commonly, it is divided into phenolic worktop and epoxy resin worktop, and its maintenance should be carried out according to different materials;

Phenolic Worktop

1. Do not place this material in a temperature exceeding 135℃ for a long time.

2. Do not expose the material to naked light, molten metal, metal sparks or sunlight only, nor can it be used as a cutting surface.

3. The flame of coal vapor lamp or alcohol lamp will damage the surface of the product, so the alcohol lamp or coal vapor lamp should be put on the triangle frame.


4. It is suggested to use warm water, acetone or mild detergent to clean the surface of the phenolic worktop. Detergent for hand washing or dish washing can be used,   to avoid damaging the surface, it is better not choose detergent that is abrasive and strong acid . Hypoxylic acid can be dripped onto the surface of drained phenolic worktop and washed with clean water.

1. The most common method is to clean the worktop with 70% concentrations alcohol before and after work.

2. If you just want to remove dirt from the surface, use a wet cloth enough. If the dirt is difficult to wipe, it is recommended to use household cleaners, it is neither use abrasive cleaners nor wax.

3. Oil stains or scratches caused by metal, rubber and similar objects can be wiped with a cloth covered with naphtha or solvent.

4. Clean and polish regularly with paper towels or clean rags, or use bright oil to clean and polish.

5. If you want to restore the original luster of the worktop, you can wipe the surface by cloth dipped into full oil, then dry with a dry cloth.

In the color matching of laboratory furniture, it is necessary to pay attention to the unity. It must be regarded as a whole, but also to show the difference. In the color matching, choice gives a sense of leap, that is, choose different colors, and there is a clear curve drop. 3. Uniform Color Selection

For some laboratory environments that are more serious and square, you can choose uniform color furniture. For example, the laboratory furniture is uniformly grayish white, and the worktop is black.
